how muks began

the authentic canadian mukluk boot

How we started

Muks began when Jaime Cooke, a lifelong Mukluk wearer, brought a piece of her Canadian heritage to the UK...

Jaime Cooke was born and raised in Calgary in Alberta, Canada, and has been sporting Mukluk boots from the age of three. Growing up in the Rockies meant a lot of snowy winters and the need for warm boots. Mukluks were an obvious option for a family that lived near many native Aboriginal Reserves.

Muks was created in November 2003, when, on a whim, Jaime brought some of her heritage back to London in the form of Mukluks.

Celebrities discover Muks

A Notting Hill boutique picked up the brand and within a month celebrities and fashionistas worldwide were sporting examples from the fabulous Muks Mukluks range. In fact, Kate Moss was one of Muks first customers and since then, Chloe Sevigny, Erin O’Connor, Milla Jovovich, Katherine Heigl, Rachel Weisz and a score of other celebrities have been discovering the effortless comfort and style of Muks.

Evolving style

We're continuing to build our collection, combining tradition and classic comfort to create what's become a wardrobe essential. For 2008 we have launched our first ever Spring / Summer Collection – fresh and stylish, the collection is inspired by the traditional craftsmanship of Canadian Aboriginals. We have used the finest suedes, handcrafted to give you the natural beauty and quality you’ve come to expect from Muks.

Cultural values

Jaime continues to develop the Muks collection with inspiration from her homeland. It's important for to her to retain the traditional heritage of the design and continue to support the Aboriginal craftsmanship through working with a Canadian Aboriginal supplier.
